Puerto Rican Tostones Fried Plantains
Ingredients:
2 green plantains, peeled and sliced into 1-inch thick roundsVegetable oil for fryingSalt to taste2 cloves garlic, minced optional1 tablespoon olive oil optional, for seasoning
Instructions:
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.Fry the plantain slices for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden and slightly softened.Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.Using a flat surface, gently press each fried plantain slice to flatten it.Return the flattened plantains to the oil and fry for another 2-3 minutes until crispy and golden brown.Drain on paper towels and season with salt and optional garlic olive oil before serving.
