Pfeffernusse Cookies

Ingredients:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

3/4 cup brown sugar, packed

1/4 cup molasses

1 large egg

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp ground ginger

1/4 tsp ground cloves

1/4 tsp ground nutmeg


1/4 tsp ground black pepper

1/4 cup powdered sugar for coating

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350F 175C. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Mix in molasses and egg until smooth.

In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, and black pepper. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until combined.

Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on prepared baking sheets.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until cookies are firm to the touch.

Let cookies cool completely, then roll in powdered sugar to coat.
