Easy Sugar Cookies

Ingredients:

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp baking powder

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp almond extract optional

Sprinkles or colored sugar for decorating optional

Instructions:


Preheat the oven to 375F 190C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.

In a separate large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth and fluffy.

Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract if using and mix until combined.

Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on the baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Flatten each dough ball with the bottom of a glass or spoon, and sprinkle with sugar or colored sugar if desired.

Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

Let the cookies cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
