Steakhouse Halloween Chex Mix Burger
Ingredients
1 cup chicken broth from a 32-oz carton
2 tablespoons steak sauce
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 lb ground beef
2 tablespoons butter
8 oz mushrooms, thinly sliced
1 cup white onion, coarsely chopped from 1 small onion
1 teaspoon Montreal steak seasoning
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
8 regular-size burger buns, toasted if desired
cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese about 2 oz
Steps
Prepare the Sauce:
In a medium bowl, mix together the chicken broth, steak sauce, and Dijon mustard; set aside.
Cook the Beef:
In a 12-inch skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat for 7 to 8 minutes, stirring frequently until browned. Drain any excess fat and set the beef aside.
Sauté the Vegetables:
In the same skillet, add the butter to any remaining drippings. Once melted, add the mushrooms, onion, and Montreal steak seasoning. Cook for 7 to 8 minutes, or until the onions are translucent and the mushrooms are browned.
Thicken the Mixture:
Sprinkle the flour over the sautéed vegetables. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes until the flour is browned and has a nutty aroma. Return the cooked beef to the skillet and stir in the broth mixture. Bring to a simmer and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, or until thickened.
Assemble the Sloppy Joes:
Place about cup of the beef mixture on the bottom half of each burger bun. Top with 1 tablespoon of shredded Cheddar cheese, then add the top bun.
