Mortadella Stromboli
Ingredients
1 lb pizza dough store-bought or homemade
8 oz mortadella, thinly sliced
6 oz provolone cheese, thinly sliced
1/4 cup roasted red peppers, sliced
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard optional
1 egg, beaten for egg wash
1 teaspoon sesame seeds or Italian seasoning optional, for topping
Instructions
Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 375F 190C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Roll out dough: Roll the pizza dough into a large rectangle, about 12×16 inches, on a lightly floured surface.
Layer the fillings:
Spread Dijon mustard evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges. Optional step.
Layer the mortadella slices over the dough.
Top with provolone cheese slices and roasted red peppers.
Roll the Stromboli:
Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log.
Pinch the edges and seam to seal the filling inside.
Prepare for baking:
Place the Stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
Brush the top with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds or Italian seasoning, if desired.
Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the Stromboli is golden brown and fully cooked.
Slice and serve: Allow the Stromboli to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing into pieces. Serve warm.
This Mortadella Stromboli is a crowd-pleasing, hands-on treat perfect for any festive gathering!
