.Juicy Ribeye Steak with Golden Caramelized Onions and Crunchy Fries
Ingredients:
For the Steak:
2 ribeye steaks about 1 inch thick
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp fresh rosemary, chopped
1 tsp fresh thyme, chopped
Salt and black pepper, to taste
For the Caramelized Onions:
2 large onions, thinly sliced
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp sugar
tsp salt
cup balsamic vinegar optional
For the Crispy French Fries:
2 large russet potatoes, cut into fries
2 tbsp cornstarch
1 tsp paprika
tsp garlic powder
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Vegetable oil for frying
Directions:
Prepare the Fries: Soak the potato fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes. Drain and pat dry. Toss with cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
Heat oil in a deep fryer or pan to 350F 175C. Fry the potatoes in batches for about 3-4 minutes, then remove and drain on paper towels. Let them rest for 10 minutes. Increase heat to 375F 190C and fry again until crispy and golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
Caramelize the Onions: Heat butter and olive oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add onions, sugar, and salt. Cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally until golden and soft. Add balsamic vinegar if using and cook for 5 more minutes. Set aside.
Cook the Steak: Heat olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over high heat. Season the ribeye steaks generously with salt and black pepper. Sear the steaks for about 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare. Reduce heat to medium-low, add butter, garlic, rosemary, and thyme. Spoon the melted butter over the steaks for an additional 1-2 minutes.
Remove steaks from the pan and let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
Serve the ribeye steaks topped with caramelized onions, alongside the crispy fries. Enjoy!
