Fried Cabbage with Bacon, Onion, and Garlic

Ingredients:

1 medium head of green cabbage, chopped

6 slices bacon, chopped

1 large onion, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt adjust to taste

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional, for heat

2 tablespoons butter

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar


Directions:

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the bacon grease in the pan.

Add the sliced onion to the skillet and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.

Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet, stirring to coat in the bacon grease. Cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and slightly caramelized.

Sprinkle in smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir well to combine.

Add the butter and apple cider vinegar, stirring until melted and incorporated.

Return the crispy bacon to the pan, mix well, and cook for another 1-2 minutes.

Remove from heat and serve warm.
