2 cups 200g diced Granny Smith apples about 2 medium apples
2 tablespoons 25g granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
For the Rolls:
1 can 8 rolls crescent roll dough
For the Frosting:
2 tablespoons 28g unsalted butter
1/4 cup 50g packed brown sugar
2-3 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup 57g powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Prepare the Filling:
In a small skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter.
Add the diced apples, granulated sugar, and cinnamon.
Cook, stirring occasionally, until the apples begin to turn translucent, about 15 minutes.
Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool for at least 10 minutes.
Assemble the Rolls:
Preheat the oven to 350F 175C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a cutting board, keeping it in a rectangular shape. Press the seams together to form one solid rectangle.
Evenly spread the cooled apple mixture over the dough.
Starting from one short end, tightly roll up the dough into a log.
Using a serrated knife, slice the log into 8 equal pieces.
Place the rolls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly.
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown on top and cooked through.
Prepare the Frosting:
In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter with the brown sugar.
Cook, stirring constantly, for 2 minutes.
Remove from heat and whisk in 2 tablespoons of heavy whipping cream until smooth. If a thinner consistency is desired, add an additional tablespoon of cream.
Whisk in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until the frosting is smooth.
Frost the Rolls:
Allow the baked rolls to cool slightly before drizzling the caramel frosting over the top.
Serve warm and enjoy!
