Ingredients
For the Crust:
1 cup 120g all-purpose flour
1/2 cup 100g brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup 115g unsalted butter, melted
For the Apple Filling:
4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
For the Crumble Topping:
1 cup 90g rolled oats
1/2 cup 60g all-purpose flour
1/2 cup 100g brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup 115g unsalted butter, melted
Directions
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350F 175C. Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal after baking.
Make the Crust:
In a medium bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, and melted butter. Stir until the mixture forms a dough-like consistency.
Press the dough firmly and evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
Bake for 10 minutes to set the crust slightly.
Prepare the Apple Filling:
In a mixing bowl, toss the diced apples with the granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg until the apples are evenly coated with the spices.
Layer the Filling:
Spread the apple mixture evenly over the pre-baked crust, creating an even layer.
Make the Crumble Topping:
In a separate bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, and melted butter. Stir until the mixture is crumbly.
Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples, covering the entire surface.
Bake the Bars:
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the apples are tender.
Cool and Serve:
Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan. Once cooled, use the parchment paper overhang to lift the bars out of the pan. Cut into squares and serve.
