Cream Cheese and Bacon Stuffed Doritos 燎肋
Ingredients:
For the filling:
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
1 tablespoon chopped chives optional
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For assembly:
1 bag large, triangular Doritos flavor of your choiceNacho Cheese works best!
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs, beaten
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
2 cups vegetable oil for frying
Directions:
Prepare the filling: In a medium bowl, mix together the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, chives, garlic powder, and black pepper until smooth. Set aside.
Stuff the Doritos: Gently separate the two layers of a Dorito chip by inserting a knife edge near one corner to create a pocket. Spoon or pipe a small amount of the cream cheese mixture into the pocket. Repeat with the desired number of chips.
Set up the breading station: Place the flour, beaten eggs, and panko breadcrumbs in three separate shallow bowls.
Coat the stuffed chips: Carefully dip each stuffed Dorito into the flour shake off excess, then into the beaten egg, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs. Place on a plate and repeat with the remaining chips.
Chill the coated chips: Refrigerate the coated Doritos for 20-30 minutes to firm up and prevent leaks while frying.
Fry the Doritos: Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pot or skillet to 350F 175C. Fry the stuffed Doritos in batches, 2-3 at a time, for 1-2 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Serve: Serve immediately with your favorite dipping saucesranch, salsa, or sour cream work wonderfully!
