Chocolate Scotcheroos
Ingredients:
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup creamy peanut butter
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup butterscotch chips
Instructions:
In a large saucepan, combine the corn syrup and sugar over medium heat. Stir constantly until the mixture comes to a boil. Once boiling, let it boil for 1 minute, stirring continuously.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the peanut butter until smooth and well combined.
Add the Rice Krispies to the peanut butter mixture, stirring gently until evenly coated.
Press the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, making sure its even and compact.
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and butterscotch chips. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth and fully melted.
Pour the chocolate and butterscotch mixture over the Rice Krispies layer and spread it evenly.
Let the bars cool at room temperature until the chocolate hardens, about 1-2 hours. Cut into squares and serve.
