Apple Pie Bombs
Ingredients:
For the Filling:
2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
For the Dough:
1 can 8 pieces refrigerated biscuit dough e.g., Pillsbury Grands!
For Coating:
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
For the Drizzle:
Store-bought caramel sauce
Directions:
Prepare the Apple Filling:
In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the diced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are softened.
Remove from heat and let the filling cool slightly.
Prepare the Dough:
Preheat your oven to 375F 190C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Separate the biscuit dough into individual pieces. Flatten each biscuit into a 4-inch circle using your hands or a rolling pin.
Assemble the Bombs:
Place a spoonful of the apple filling in the center of each dough circle. Carefully fold the edges up and over the filling, pinching to seal completely. Roll gently to form a smooth ball.
Place the sealed bombs seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the bombs are golden brown.
Add the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon. Brush the baked bombs with melted butter, then roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
Finish with Caramel Drizzle:
Drizzle caramel sauce over the top of each bomb just before serving.
Serve and Enjoy:
Serve warm for the best gooey apple filling experience!
