Ingredients:

For the Apple Cake:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp cinnamon

tsp nutmeg

tsp salt

cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

cup brown sugar

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

cup buttermilk

3 medium apples, peeled and diced about 2 cups

cup chopped walnuts or pecans optional

For the Caramel Frosting:

1 cup brown sugar

cup butter

cup milk

23 cups powdered sugar adjust as needed for consistency

1 tsp vanilla extract optional

Directions:

Prepare the Apple Cake Batter:

Preheat your oven to 350F 175C. Grease and flour a 9×13-inch pan or two 8-inch round cake pans.


In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
