Alysias Basic Meat Lasagna

Ingredients:

1 lb ground beef

1/2 lb ground pork

1 small onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 can 28 oz crushed tomatoes

1 can 6 oz tomato paste

1/4 cup tomato sauce

2 tablespoons dried basil

1 teaspoon dried oregano

12 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained

2 cups ricotta cheese


2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 375F 190C. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

In a skillet, cook ground beef, ground pork, onion, and garlic over medium heat until meat is browned. Drain excess fat. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.

In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper.

Layer lasagna: spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of the dish, followed by lasagna noodles, ricotta cheese mixture, mozzarella cheese, and more meat sauce. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used up, ending with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.

Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before serving.
