Teriyaki Beef Bowl
Ingredients:
For the Beef:
500g beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp ginger, grated
For the Teriyaki Sauce:
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup mirin or substitute with rice vinegar and sugar
2 tbsp honey or brown sugar
1/4 cup water
1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
For the Bowl:
2 cups cooked rice
1 cup spinach or bok choy, sautéed
2 green onions, chopped
1 tbsp sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Sauce:
In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, mirin, honey, and water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook until the sauce thickens. Set aside.
2. Cook the Beef:
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add garlic and ginger, sautéing until fragrant.
Add the sliced beef and cook until browned and tender.
3. Combine Beef and Sauce:
Pour the prepared teriyaki sauce over the beef in the skillet. Toss to coat evenly.
4. Assemble the Bowl:
Place cooked rice into serving bowls.
Top with teriyaki beef, sautéed spinach or bok choy, and a sprinkle of green onions.
5. Garnish and Serve:
Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and serve immediately.
Tip: For added flavor, drizzle extra teriyaki sauce over the bowl and pair it with pickled vegetables!
