Peanut Butter Chocolate Mud Pie Recipe
Ingredients
For the Chocolate Cookie Crust:
2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs like Oreos, without filling
cup unsalted butter, melted
For the Peanut Butter Filling:
1 cup creamy peanut butter
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cups heavy cream, whipped
For the Chocolate Ganache Topping:
8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
cup heavy cream
For Garnish:
Chocolate shavings or curls
Crushed chocolate cookies
Directions
Step 1: Prepare the Chocolate Cookie Crust
Preheat your oven to 350F 175C.
In a bowl, mix chocolate cookie crumbs and melted butter until the texture resembles wet sand.
Press the mixture evenly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie dish.
Bake for 10 minutes, then let it cool completely.
Step 2: Make the Peanut Butter Filling
In a mixing bowl, beat the peanut butter, cream cheese, and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
Fold in the whipped heavy cream gently until fully combined and fluffy.
Spread the peanut butter filling evenly over the cooled crust. Place in the refrigerator to set while preparing the ganache.
Step 3: Prepare the Chocolate Ganache Topping
Heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until just simmering.
Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Let it sit for 1-2 minutes, then stir until smooth and glossy.
Let the ganache cool slightly, then pour it over the peanut butter layer, spreading evenly with a spatula.
Step 4: Garnish and Chill
Sprinkle chocolate shavings and crushed chocolate cookies over the ganache for decoration.
Refrigerate the pie for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the layers to set.
Serving
Slice the pie with a sharp knife, wiping the blade clean between cuts for neat slices. Serve chilled for the best texture and flavor.
