The Fluffiest Bread Rolls
Ingredients:
1 cups warm water 110F / 45C
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 tablespoon active dry yeast
4 cups bread flour
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon salt
Directions:
Activate the Yeast:
In a large mixing bowl, stir together the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes until it becomes creamy and bubbly.
Combine Ingredients:
Add 2 cups of bread flour, vegetable oil, and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually stir in the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until the dough starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
Knead the Dough:
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8 minutes, until it is smooth and elastic.
First Rise:
Lightly oil a large bowl, place the dough in it, and turn it to coat with oil. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in volume.
Shape the Rolls:
Punch down the dough and turn it onto a lightly floured surface. Divide the dough into 16 equal pieces and shape each piece into a round ball.
Second Rise:
Lightly grease two baking sheets. Place the rolls on the prepared sheets, spacing them at least 2 inches apart. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise for an additional 40 minutes, or until doubled in volume.
Bake:
Preheat the oven to 400F 200C. Bake the rolls for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
