Ingredients Serves 8:
8 cups water, divided
8 black tea bags
1 teaspoon baking soda
4 cups fresh strawberries, chopped
1 cups granulated sugar
Directions:
Steep the Tea:
In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
Remove from heat and add the tea bags. Let them steep for 5 minutes.
Remove the tea bags, squeezing out any excess liquid.
Prepare the Tea Base:
Transfer the brewed tea to a large pitcher.
Add 4 additional cups of water and baking soda. Stir to combine.
Make the Strawberry Syrup:
In the same saucepan, add the remaining 2 cups of water, chopped strawberries, and sugar.
Bring to a low simmer and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat and let the syrup cool slightly.
Strain the Strawberries:
Using a fine-mesh sieve, strain the strawberries, pressing to extract all the juice.
Discard the solids and keep the syrup.
Combine & Serve:
Add the strawberry syrup to the tea pitcher and stir well.
Serve over ice and enjoy!
