Ingredients:
– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 cup packed brown sugar
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 2 large eggs
– 1 teaspoon baking soda
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
– 2 cups chocolate chips
– 1 cup caramel sauce
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan. For an even easier release, you can line the pan with parchment paper.
2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. This usually takes about 2-3 minutes with an electric mixer.
3. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract until fully combined.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and sea salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the cookie bars tender.
5. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the cookie dough.
6. Spread half of the cookie dough into the prepared baking pan, pressing it down evenly and firmly.
7. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the dough layer, spreading it out lightly with a spatula to cover as much area as possible.
8. Take the remaining cookie dough and drop spoonfuls over the caramel layer. Gently spread it out using your hands or a spatula, ensuring some caramel is still visible.
