Ingredients:
For the Ribeye Steak:
2 ribeye steaks about 1 inch thick
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
Fresh thyme or rosemary optional, for garnish
For the French Onions:
2 large onions, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon sugar
Salt, to taste
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar optional
For the French Fries:
2 large russet potatoes, cut into fries
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Salt, to taste
Paprika or garlic powder optional, for seasoning
Instructions:
1. Prepare the French Fries:
Preheat the oven to 425F 220C.
Rinse and soak the cut potatoes in cold water for about 30 minutes this helps to remove excess starch and results in crispier fries.
Drain and pat dry. Toss the potatoes with vegetable oil and season with salt and optional spices if using.
Spread the fries in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
2. Cook the French Onions:
While the fries are baking, heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the sliced onions, season with salt, and sprinkle with sugar.
Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes, until the onions are caramelized and golden brown. If desired, stir in balsamic vinegar for added flavor.
3. Cook the Ribeye Steak:
Season the ribeye steaks generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
In another skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.
Add the steaks to the hot skillet and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare adjust time based on thickness and desired doneness.
In the last minute of cooking, add butter and minced garlic to the pan, spooning the melted butter over the steaks for added flavor.
4. Serve:
Let the steaks rest for a few minutes before slicing.
Serve the ribeye steaks topped with the caramelized French onions
