Pepperoni Pizza Pie
Ingredients:
For the Crust:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 packet 2 tsp active dry yeast
cup warm water
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
For the Filling:
1 cups pizza sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 cups sliced pepperoni
1 tsp Italian seasoning
tsp garlic powder
For Topping Optional:
tsp red pepper flakes
1 tbsp fresh basil, chopped
Directions:
Prepare the dough: In a bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Stir in flour, salt, and olive oil. Knead until smooth, then cover and let rise for 1 hour.
Preheat oven: Set to 375F 190C.
Assemble the pie: Roll out dough and press into a greased deep-dish pie pan. Spread half of the pizza sauce, followed by a layer of mozzarella cheese and pepperoni slices. Repeat layers, finishing with Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.
Bake: Place in the oven for 25-30 minutes until the crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
Cool & Serve: Let it rest for 5 minutes, then top with red pepper flakes and fresh basil before slicing.
