Old-Fashioned Fudge A Timeless Treat!
Ingredients:
2 cups sugar
4 tablespoons Hersheys cocoa
1 stick 1/2 cup salted butter
1 5-ounce can Carnation evaporated milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped nuts optional
Directions:
Prepare the Ingredients:
Grease a baking dish with butter or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Set aside.
Mix the Base:
In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and cocoa powder. Stir well to ensure they are evenly mixed.
Add Wet Ingredients:
Add the stick of butter and the evaporated milk to the saucepan. Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir the mixture continuously as it heats up.
Bring to a Boil:
Continue stirring until the mixture comes to a rolling boil. Once boiling, keep stirring for exactly 7 minutes to prevent the mixture from burning and to achieve the perfect fudge consistency.
Remove from Heat:
Take the saucepan off the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. If youre adding nuts, fold them in at this stage.
Final Stirring:
Stir the mixture continuously for 3 more minutes to ensure it thickens slightly and becomes smooth.
Set the Fudge:
Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly. Allow it to cool at room temperature until fully set.
Serve and Enjoy:
Once set, cut the fudge into squares and serve. Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature or in the fridge for a firmer texture.
