Melt In Your Mouth Toffee

Ingredients:

1 cup unsalted butter

1 cup granulated sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped almonds or pecans optional

Instructions:


In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.

Stir in sugar and salt. Cook while stirring constantly until the mixture reaches a golden brown color and hits 285F 137C on a candy thermometer.

Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

Immediately pour the hot mixture onto a greased baking sheet or parchment paper. Spread evenly.

Sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes, then spread the melted chocolate evenly over the surface.

Sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired.

Allow the toffee to cool and harden completely at room temperature. Break into pieces and enjoy!
