Korean Fried Chicken Burger Recipe

If youre craving something bold and delicious, this Korean Fried Chicken Burger is your answer! A tasty mix of crispy, spicy chicken and a creamy kick awaits you!

Ingredients:

– 2 boneless, skinless chicken thighs

– 1 cup buttermilk

– 1 tsp garlic powder

– Salt and black pepper, to taste

– 1 cup all-purpose flour

– 1/2 cup cornstarch

– 1 tsp paprika

– 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

– Vegetable oil, for frying

– 2 tbsp gochujang Korean chili paste

– 2 tbsp soy sauce

– 2 tbsp honey

– 1 clove garlic, minced

– 1 tsp sesame oil

– 2 burger buns

– 2 tbsp spicy mayo or aioli

– Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions:

1. Start by marinating the chicken thighs. In a bowl, combine buttermilk, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken, ensuring its well coated. Cover and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

2. For the coating, prepare a mixture of all-purpose flour, cornstarch, paprika, and cayenne pepper in a large bowl. Mix well to combine the dry ingredients evenly.

3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan to 350F 175C for frying.

4. While the oil heats up, take the marinated chicken out and let any excess buttermilk drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, making sure it is fully coated.

5. Once the oil is ready, carefully lower the coated chicken into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally for even cooking. Once cooked, remove and drain on a paper towel.

6. Next, prepare the Korean sauce. In a small pan, combine gochujang, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and sesame oil. Stir and bring it to a gentle simmer, allowing it to thicken for about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat.

7. To assemble the burger, toast the burger buns lightly. Spread a layer of spicy mayo or aioli on the bottom half of each bun.

8. Place the crispy fried chicken directly on the mayo layer, drizzle with the Korean sauce, and add a sprinkle of fresh cilantro. Top it off with the other half of the bun.

9. Serve the burger hot and enjoy the explosion of Korean flavors!
