Homemade Dog Food
Ingredients:
1 pound ground turkey
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 large zucchini, shredded
1 large carrot, shredded
1/2 cup peas fresh or frozen
1 cup baby spinach, chopped
1/2 cup pumpkin purée plain, unsweetened
1/2 cup rolled oats
2 cups water
Directions:
Cook the Turkey: In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground turkey, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
Add Vegetables: Stir in the shredded zucchini, shredded carrot, and peas. Cook for another 3-4 minutes, until the vegetables begin to soften.
Add Spinach, Pumpkin, and Oats: Add the chopped spinach, pumpkin purée, and oats. Mix well to combine.
Simmer with Water: Pour in 2 cups of water, stirring to combine. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let the mixture simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are tender and the mixture has thickened.
Cool and Serve: Remove from heat and let the food cool completely before serving to your dog. Divide into portions, and refrigerate any leftovers for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
