Crispy Homemade Fried Cheese Bites
Ingredients:
8 ounces block of cheese cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite variety
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper, to taste
Vegetable oil, for frying
Marinara sauce or ranch dressing, for dipping
Instructions:
Prep the Cheese: Cut your cheese into bite-sized cubes or sticks, about 1-inch in size.
Set Up the Breading Station: In three shallow bowls, arrange the following:
Bowl 1: All-purpose flour
Bowl 2: Beaten eggs
Bowl 3: Breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper
Bread the Cheese:
Dredge each cheese piece in the flour, shaking off any excess.
Dip into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off.
Finally, coat in the seasoned breadcrumbs, pressing gently to help the coating stick.
Freeze: Arrange the breaded cheese cubes on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for 30 minutes to prevent them from melting too quickly during frying.
Fry the Cheese Bites: Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, fry the cheese cubes in batches, turning them until golden and crispy about 1-2 minutes per side. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
Drain: Transfer the fried cheese bites to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Serve: Enjoy your crispy homemade fried cheese bites with marinara sauce or ranch dressing on the side for dipping.
