Christmas Snickerdoodles
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup salted butter, softened
2 cups white sugar divided
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Instructions:
Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350F 175C. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg. Set aside.
Cream Butter and Sugar:
In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter with 1 1/2 cups of sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Add Eggs:
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is well mixed.
Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Cinnamon-Sugar Coating:
In a small bowl, combine the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar with the cinnamon.
Shape the Cookies:
Roll dough into 1 3/4-inch balls. Coat each ball thoroughly in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Bake:
Arrange the coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 3 inches of space between each. Bake for 9-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
Cool and Serve:
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Enjoy these holiday treats or package them as gifts!
