Ingredients:

For the Cake:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 3/4 cups granulated sugar

3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup whole milk

1/2 cup vegetable oil

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup boiling water

For the Filling and Topping:


2 cups chocolate frosting

1 pound fresh strawberries, halved

1/2 cup dark chocolate chunks

Instructions:

1. Bake the Cake Layers:

Preheat the oven to 180C 350F. Grease and flour three 8-inch round cake pans.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth. Stir in boiling water the batter will be thin.

Divide the batter evenly between the pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool completely.

2. Assemble the Cake:

Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a generous amount of chocolate frosting on top. Arrange a layer of halved strawberries over the frosting.

Repeat with the second layer. Place the final cake layer on top and frost the top layer.

3. Decorate:

Garnish with whole strawberries and sprinkle dark chocolate chunks over the top.
