Ingredients:

For the Chocolate Cake:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

2 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

cup vegetable oil

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup boiling water

1 cups unsalted butter softened

4 cups powdered sugar

1 cup cocoa powder

cup heavy cream

1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Chocolate Ganache Drip:

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

cup heavy cream

For Decoration:

Pecan halves

Chopped pecans

Chocolate chips


Instructions:

1 Prepare the Cake Layers:

1. Preheat your oven to 350F 175C. Grease and line three 8-inch round cake pans.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth.

4. Slowly add the boiling water, mixing until fully incorporated batter will be thin.

5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes. Cool completely.

1. Beat the butter until creamy.

3. Add heavy cream and vanilla, and whip until fluffy.

2. Pour over chocolate chips and let sit for 5 minutes. Stir until smooth.

3. Let the ganache cool slightly until its thick but pourable.

4 Assemble the Cake:

1. Place the first cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a thick layer of frosting.

2. Repeat with the second and third layers.

3. Frost the entire cake with a thin crumb coat, then a smooth final coat.

5 Decorate:

1. Pour the ganache over the top, letting it drip down the sides.

2. Decorate with pecan halves, chopped pecans, and chocolate chips on top.
