Chocolate Mousse Cake
Ingredients:
For the crust:
1 cup chocolate cookie crumbs
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
For the dark chocolate mousse:
1 cup heavy cream
200g dark chocolate, chopped
2 tablespoons sugar
For the milk chocolate mousse:
1 cup heavy cream
200g milk chocolate, chopped
2 tablespoons sugar
For the white chocolate mousse:
1 cup heavy cream
200g white chocolate, chopped
2 tablespoons sugar
For garnish:
Chocolate shavings
Directions:
Prepare the crust:
In a bowl, mix the chocolate cookie crumbs with the melted butter.
Firmly press the mixture into the base of a springform pan to form an even crust.
Refrigerate to chill and set while preparing the mousse layers.
Make the dark chocolate mousse:
Heat 1 cup of heavy cream in a saucepan until steaming do not boil.
Pour the hot cream over the chopped dark chocolate in a bowl. Stir until fully melted and smooth.
Let it cool slightly, then gently fold in the sugar.
Pour this dark chocolate mousse over the prepared crust and refrigerate to set.
Make the milk chocolate mousse:
Repeat the process by heating another cup of heavy cream and pouring it over the chopped milk chocolate.
Stir until smooth and add sugar.
Pour this layer over the chilled dark chocolate mousse and return to the fridge.
Make the white chocolate mousse:
Heat the last cup of heavy cream and mix it with the chopped white chocolate until fully melted and smooth.
Fold in the sugar and carefully pour this over the milk chocolate mousse.
Refrigerate the entire cake for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to ensure proper firmness.
Garnish and serve:
Once set, remove the cake from the springform pan and garnish with chocolate shavings.
Slice and enjoy this rich, layered chocolate mousse cake!
