A classic dessert reimagined! This Black Forest Cake brings together rich chocolate, luscious cherries, and fluffy cream for a heavenly treat.

Ingredients:

– 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

– 2 large eggs

– 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 cup whole milk

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

– 3 teaspoons baking powder

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1 cup heavy cream

– 2 tablespoons granulated sugar for whipped cream

– 1 cup maraschino cherries, drained and chopped

– 1/4 cup granulated sugar for cherry filling

– 1 cup dark chocolate, shaved

Instructions:

1. Start by preheating your oven to 320F 160C. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans to ensure easy removal later.

2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 cups of granulated sugar, 3 teaspoons of baking powder, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Set aside.


3. In another bowl, blend the softened butter with 1 cup of whole milk, 2 large eggs, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.

4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir gently until combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can affect the texture of your cake.

5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes. Use a toothpick to check doneness; it should come out clean.

6. While the cakes are baking, prepare the whipped cream. In a mixing bowl, beat 1 cup of heavy cream, 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.

7. Next, make the cherry filling. In a separate bowl, combine the chopped maraschino cherries with 1/4 cup of granulated sugar. Mix well and set aside to let the flavors meld.

8. Once the cakes have cooled completely, its time to assemble. Place one cake layer on a serving plate, spread a generous layer of whipped cream on top, followed by a layer of the cherry filling.

9. Add the second cake layer on top and repeat the process with more whipped cream and cherry filling.

10. Finish the cake by topping it with dark chocolate shavings for a stunning presentation.
