BBQ Brisket Cheesesteaks
Ingredients:
1 lb cooked brisket, thinly sliced
4 hoagie rolls or sub buns
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 medium onion, sliced
1 bell pepper, sliced
1 cup BBQ sauce
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
4 slices provolone cheese or your favorite cheese
Fresh parsley, chopped optional, for garnish
Directions:
Prepare the Brisket:
a. Heat the BBQ sauce in a large skillet over medium heat.
b. Add the sliced brisket to the skillet, and season with smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir to coat. Let simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing the brisket to absorb the BBQ sauce. Add Worcestershire sauce and stir again.
Caramelize the Veggies:
a. In another skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
b. Add the onion and bell pepper slices, cooking for 5-6 minutes until softened and caramelized. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
Assemble the Cheesesteaks:
a. Cut open the hoagie rolls and lightly toast them in the oven or on a skillet.
b. Layer each roll with a generous amount of the BBQ brisket, followed by the caramelized onions and peppers.
c. Top with a slice of provolone cheese and place the assembled sandwich under a broiler for 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese melts and becomes bubbly.
Serve hot, and garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Enjoy!
