Apple Raisin French Toast Strata
Ingredients:
6 slices of day-old bread, cubed
2 large apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
1/2 cup raisins
6 large eggs
2 cups milk
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup butter, melted
Powdered sugar for dusting optional
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350F 175C.
Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and layer with bread cubes, apples, and raisins.
In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, salt, and melted butter.
Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread, pressing slightly to soak the bread.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until golden and set.
Dust with powdered sugar before serving if desired.
