Better Than Anything Toffee Recipe
Ingredients for Better Than Anything Toffee:
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped almonds or pecans
Directions:
Grease a small baking sheet or line it with parchment paper. Set aside.
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the sugar and salt.
Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Continue cooking until the mixture turns a deep amber color and reaches 285F 140C on a candy thermometer about 10-12 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Immediately pour the hot toffee mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it evenly.
Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the toffee. Let them sit for a minute or two to melt, then spread the chocolate evenly over the toffee with a spatula.
Sprinkle the chopped almonds on top of the melted chocolate, gently pressing them into the chocolate.
Allow the toffee to cool completely, then break it into pieces.
