Homemade Strawberry Jam
Ingredients:
– 2 pounds of fresh strawberries, hulled and coarsely chopped
– 1/4 cup lemon juice
– 4 cups of granulated sugar
Instructions:
1. Start by washing the strawberries thoroughly. Remove the hulls and chop them coarsely.
2. In a large pot, combine the chopped strawberries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Stir well to mix all the ingredients.
3. Let the mixture sit for about 30 minutes to allow the strawberries to release their juices.
4. Place the pot over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring frequently to prevent it from sticking to the bottom.
5. Once boiling, reduce the heat slightly and continue to cook for approximately 20-25 minutes. Keep stirring and check for the desired gel-like consistency.
6. To test if the jam is set, drop a spoonful on a cold plate and see if it holds its shape. If its too runny, cook it for a few more minutes.
7. Once ready, remove the pot from the heat and let it cool slightly.
8. Pour the jam into sterilized glass jars and seal them tightly. Allow them to cool completely at room temperature before refrigerating.
9. Enjoy your homemade strawberry jam on toast, in desserts, or straight from the jar!
