Classic Meatloaf with Creamy Gravy
Ingredients:
For the Meatloaf:
500g ground beef
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 cup milk
1 large egg
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
For the Gravy:
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups beef broth
1/4 cup heavy cream
Salt and pepper to taste
For Garnish:
Fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Meatloaf:
Preheat your oven to 180C 350F.
In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a loaf pan or on a lined baking sheet.
2. Bake:
Bake the meatloaf for 50-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 70C 160F. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
3. Make the Gravy:
In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden.
Gradually whisk in the beef broth, ensuring no lumps remain. Cook until thickened. Stir in the cream and season with salt and pepper.
4. Serve:
Drizzle the creamy gravy over the sliced meatloaf and garnish with fresh parsley.
