Turtle Cookie Bars
Ingredients:
1 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
cup brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans
1 can 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
cup caramel sauce
1 tablespoon bourbon optional
Directions:
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350F 175C. Grease and line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
Prepare the Crust: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until smooth. Add the vanilla extract and mix. Gradually add the flour and continue mixing until a dough forms.
Press and Bake the Crust: Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking dish. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges start to turn golden. Remove from the oven and allow it to cool slightly.
Add the Toppings: Sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped pecans evenly over the baked crust.
Pour the Sweetened Condensed Milk: Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk over the chocolate chips and pecans, ensuring an even layer.
Caramel Layer: In a small bowl, mix the caramel sauce with bourbon if using. Drizzle this mixture over the top of the bars.
Bake Again: Return the baking dish to the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is set.
Cool and Serve: Let the turtle cookie bars cool completely before slicing them into squares. Enjoy these decadent treats!
