Slow Cooker Cracker Barrel Fried Apples

Slow Cooker Cracker Barrel Fried Apples

Ingredients:

6 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 tablespoon cornstarch optional, for thickening

1/4 cup water

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Lemon juice to prevent apples from browning

Directions:

Prepare the Apples: Peel, core, and slice the apples into wedges. Toss them lightly in lemon juice to prevent browning while you prepare the other ingredients.

Combine Ingredients: In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. If youd like a thicker sauce, dissolve the cornstarch in the 1/4 cup of water and add it to the mixture as well.

Add to Slow Cooker: Place the apple slices into the slow cooker, and pour the butter-sugar mixture over them. Gently stir to ensure the apples are evenly coated.

Cook: Cover the slow cooker and cook the apples on low for 2-3 hours or until the apples are tender but not mushy. Stir occasionally for even cooking.

Serve: Once the apples are done, serve them warm. These fried apples make a perfect side dish for breakfast, a topping for pancakes or waffles, or even as a dessert served with vanilla ice cream.
