Country Apple Fritter Bread
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
cup granulated sugar
cup light brown sugar
teaspoon salt
teaspoon baking powder
teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 large eggs
cup unsalted butter, melted
cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
cup granulated sugar for apples
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon for apples
Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2-3 tablespoons milk
teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350F 175C. Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
Combine Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, baking powder, and ground cinnamon.
Mix Wet Ingredients:
In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract. Add this mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
Prepare the Apples:
In a small bowl, toss the chopped apples with cup granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon.
Layer the Batter:
Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Layer with half of the apple mixture, then pour the remaining batter over the apples. Top with the remaining apple mixture and lightly press the apples into the batter.
Bake:
Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool:
Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Make the Glaze:
In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread.
