Mamas Cornbread Dressing!

A delicious, comforting classic for your holiday table!

Ingredients:

2 cups chopped onions

2 cups chopped celery

1/2 cup butter

4 cups finely crumbled toasted bread

4 cups finely crumbled cornbread

1 tablespoon salt

2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper

1 tablespoon dried sage


2 teaspoons poultry seasoning

Turkey broth

4 large eggs, beaten

Instructions:

Sauté the Vegetables: In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and celery, cooking until tender.

Combine the Bread and Cornbread: In a large bowl, mix together the crumbled toasted bread and cornbread.

Add Seasonings and Vegetables: Add the sautéed onions, celery along with any cooking liquid, salt, pepper, sage, and poultry seasoning to the bread mixture. Stir thoroughly to combine.

Moisten with Broth: Using a bulb baster, gradually add turkey broth to the mixture, just enough to make it very moist. Then, stir in the beaten eggs.

Bake the Dressing: Transfer the dressing into a large greased baking pan or dish. Bake at 400F for about 30-40 minutes, until the top is nicely browned.
