Paula Deens 5-Minute Fudge
Ingredients:
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1 2/3 cups granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions:
Prepare the Pan:
Line an 8×8-inch square pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it. Set aside.
Cook the Base Mixture:
In a medium saucepan, combine the evaporated milk, granulated sugar, and salt.
Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture reaches a rolling boil.
Continue boiling for 45 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens slightly.
Melt the Chocolate:
Remove the saucepan from the heat and quickly stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Stir vigorously until the chocolate chips are completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
Pour and Set:
Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan. Use a spatula to spread it evenly.
Allow the fudge to cool at room temperature until firm, or place it in the refrigerator for about 12 hours for faster setting.
Slice and Serve:
Once the fudge has set, cut it into small squares and serve.
