Brick-Oven Pizza Brooklyn Style
Ingredients:
1 batch pizza dough homemade or store-bought
1/2 cup pizza sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes optional
Toppings of your choice pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, etc.
Instructions:
Preheat your brick oven or pizza stone to 500F 260C.
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired shape, about 12-14 inches in diameter.
Place the dough on a pizza peel or baking sheet dusted with flour or cornmeal.
Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top, and add your favorite toppings.
Bake the pizza in the preheated brick oven for 7-10 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crispy, and the cheese is bubbling.
Remove from the oven and sprinkle with fresh basil leaves and a drizzle of olive oil.
Slice and serve with a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for some heat if desired.
