Golden Holly Crown Cookies
These delightful cookies are perfect for celebrating the festive season. Make your holidays sparkle with these charmingly decorated treats!
Ingredients:
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 large egg
– teaspoon salt
– teaspoon baking powder
– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
– cup granulated sugar
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– Edible gold dust or gold sprinkles
– Red and green candy-coated chocolates for holly berries and leaves
– Royal icing optional, for decorating
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and line baking sheets with parchment paper. This ensures the cookies bake evenly and dont stick.
2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy. This usually takes about 3-5 minutes.
3. Add in the large egg and vanilla extract, mixing well until everything is thoroughly combined.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. This helps distribute the dry ingredients evenly throughout the dough.
5. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredients, stirring until a smooth dough forms. Avoid overmixing to keep the cookies tender.
6. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about inch thick. Use a round cookie cutter to cut out wreath shapes, and then use a smaller round cutter for the centers to create the crown cookies.
7. Place the cut-out cookies onto the prepared baking sheets, allowing a little space between each one.
8. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove from the oven and allow them to cool completely on a wire rack.
9. Once cooled, use a brush to apply edible gold dust or sprinkle them with gold sprinkles for a festive touch.
10. Decorate with red and green candy-coated chocolates, arranging them to resemble holly berries and leaves. If desired, use royal icing to secure the candies in place and add extra decorative flair.
