Tomato-Cream Sauce for Pasta
Ingredients:
2 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 15 oz can of crushed tomatoes
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes optional
1/2 tsp dried basil or 2 tbsp fresh basil, chopped
Salt and pepper, to taste
Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving optional
Instructions:
1 Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and sauté until translucent.
2 Stir in the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
3 Pour in the crushed tomatoes and bring to a simmer. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4 Stir in the heavy cream, red pepper flakes if using, and basil. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
5 Season with salt and pepper to taste.
6 Toss the sauce with your favorite pasta, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, and serve warm.
