Oven-Baked Candied Strawberries
Ingredients:
– 1 kg approximately 3 pounds of fresh strawberries
– 1 liter of water
– 800 grams approximately 2.52-2.8 pounds of sugar
For a smaller batch:
– 1 pound of strawberries
– About 1 pound of sugar adjust to taste if you prefer less sweetness
– 0.35 liters 350 ml of water
Instructions:
1. In a pot, combine water with sugar and heat it on the stove. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then let it boil for about 5 minutes to create a syrup.
2. Carefully add the fresh strawberries to the syrup and continue boiling for another 10 minutes. Once done, remove from heat and strain the syrup.
3. Preheat your oven to 200F 93C. Spread the strawberries on a tray and place them in the warmed oven. Dry the strawberries until they are firm on the outside but still tender inside. Turn them occasionally this process will take about 5 hours!
4. Once the candied strawberries are done, allow them to cool completely. Enjoy as a sweet snack or store them in a mason jar for future treats!
These candied strawberries can be stored for up to a year, making them an irresistible long-lasting dessert!
