French Onion Soup Burger
Ingredients:
4 burger buns
1 lb ground beef 80/20 blend
2 tbsp butter
4 slices Swiss cheese or Gruyère
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
1 cup beef broth
Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
Salt and pepper to taste
Thyme, fresh or dried
Instructions:
Prepare the Onions:
1. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
2. Add the thinly sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until theyre beautifully caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
3. Stir in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Let it cook for another 5 minutes until its slightly thickened. Remove from heat.
Cook the Burgers:
4. Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
5. Shape the ground beef into 4 patties and season them generously with salt and pepper.
6. Cook the burgers for about 4-5 minutes on each side, achieving that perfect medium doneness.
Melt the Cheese:
7. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each burger and cover to allow it to melt.
Assemble the Burgers:
8. If desired, toast the burger buns for a crispy texture.
9. Layer the caramelized onion mixture generously on top of each burger.
10. Serve each burger with a sprinkle of fresh parsley for garnish.
