Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients:

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

2 1/2 cups rolled oats

1 cup chocolate chips


1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans optional

Instructions:

1 Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

2 In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

3 Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.

4 In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.

5 Stir in the rolled oats, chocolate chips, and optional nuts.

6 Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

7 Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers are set.

8 Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
