Breakfast Sausage Casserole

Ingredients:

1 lb ground turkey or chicken sausage

6 slices of bread, cubed

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup diced onion

1/2 cup diced green bell pepper optional

6 large eggs

1 cup milk

1/2 tsp garlic powder


1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions:

1 Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2 In a skillet, cook the ground turkey or chicken sausage until browned. Remove from heat and set aside.

3 Layer the cubed bread in the bottom of the baking dish, followed by cooked sausage, onion, bell pepper if using, and shredded cheese.

4 In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Pour the mixture evenly over the ingredients in the dish.

5 Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.

6 Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes, or until the casserole is set and golden. Let cool slightly before serving.
