Apple Cobbler Recipe
Ingredients:
4 medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
1/4 cup whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
1/4 cup chopped walnuts optional
Directions:
Prepare the Apples:
Preheat oven to 350F 175C. In a mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Pour the apple mixture into a greased 8×8 inch baking dish.
Make the Topping:
In another bowl, mix together oats, whole wheat flour, brown sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a fork or pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. If using, stir in the chopped walnuts.
Assemble and Bake:
Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apples. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
Serve:
Allow the cobbler to cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of low-fat ice cream or Greek yogurt.
