Homemade Butter Pecan Pound Cake
A rich, buttery pound cake packed with toasted pecans, drizzled with creamy glaze and caramel, making it the ultimate Southern dessert!
Ingredients:
For the Pound Cake:
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 tbsp vanilla extract
½ cup buttermilk
½ cup sour cream
2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 ½ cups toasted pecans, chopped
For the Butter Pecan Glaze:
2 cups powdered sugar
3 tbsp melted butter
2 tbsp milk or heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Caramel Drizzle (Optional but Recommended!):
½ cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
¼ cup extra toasted pecans for topping
Instructions:
Step 1: Toast the Pecans
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Spread chopped pecans on a baking sheet and toast for 5-7 minutes, until fragrant. Let cool.
Step 2: Make the Pound Cake Batter
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy (about 3 minutes).
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
Mix in vanilla extract, buttermilk, and sour cream until combined.
In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
Fold in toasted pecans for that buttery crunch!
Step 3: Bake the Pound Cake
Grease and flour a bundt pan or loaf pan.
Pour batter into the pan and bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Step 4: Make the Butter Pecan Glaze
Whisk together powdered sugar, melted butter, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
Pour over the cooled cake, letting it drip beautifully down the sides.
Step 5: Finish with Caramel & Pecans
Drizzle caramel sauce over the glazed cake.
Sprinkle with extra toasted pecans for that finishing touch!
Pro Tips:
For extra moisture, substitute brown sugar for half of the granulated sugar!
Use browned butter instead of regular butter for a nutty, rich flavor!
Chill before slicing for a neater cut, or serve warm with vanilla ice cream!
